| Hi! I'm currently a business student in the second semester of my sophomore year at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I recently decided I want a career in aviation, and right now I'm leaning toward ATC. I'm wondering if anybody knows what AT-CTI program would be quickest for me. I'm interested in all 13, but I'd prefer not to move too far from Illinois. The thing is, looking at these programs makes me wonder just how much longer I would have to be in school for. I have a strong background in English, Business, and Social Sciences. Unfortunately, from what I have seen on some of the websites, my first two years of school will count for barely anything when transferred to most programs. Is there a program that allows a little bit more freedom in the general education requirements? It seems like all of these programs are meant to be started freshman year. I would prefer to go to school in Minneapolis, but they only offer an associates degree, which would make the last 2 years of school a big waste of time and money. I want to be an air traffic controller as soon as possible, but I really was looking forward to only 2 more years of school. I'm going to paste my college education info... By the way, a useful bit of information would be that my GPA isn't too great. 2.58. Thanks in advance for your help!! -Matt C. PS: With a 4 year degree in English (I'm changing my major) would I have a decent chance at being hired without attending one of those 13 AT-CTI programs? Do you think that in the forseeable future there will be additional training opportunities as the baby boomers retire? | For the best source of info on your question go here - http://atccti.com/ Register and go to the forums, it is probably one of the best sources for ATC CTI info on the web. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on there about the CTI program, the site was created by a CTI student who know works as a controller. For people like myself who work for the FAA we are very far out of the loop on CTI info. |
