He is a real idiot. . .

Anti controller, pro-privatization of the NAS. . .

Well. . . excuse me. . . VERY disliked.

Oh yeah - Anti labor. . . kiss any union, or union dreams / honest contract negotiations down the drain. He is a money hungry capitalist, was at AA, was at the ATO, and I'm sure he will continue his greed fest at JBU. Good luck, batten down the hatches, and brace yourself for a nice long struggle.

This guy gives new meaning to the word ATC zero... before he ran the FAA into the ground he was at American Airlines where he ran them into the ground.

For the last four years or so he was the COO of the FAA's ATO (Air Traffic Organization) ... the branch of the FAA that was supposed to business like. I love that term used in the FAA ... we are "like" a business, that is like being sorta pregnant. The guy was a disaster and is responsible for much of the mess the FAA is presently in.

I love flying jetBlue, I fly them often... sad to see that they hired this zero... oh well, I better cash in my jetBlue rewards soon.

I sat in on a meeting with him when he was running ATO. Showed up late, spent most of the time on his Blackberry, left early (OK, it wasn't that important). I don't think his performance (or, lack therof) can really be an indicator of anything. So far, nobody's been able to effect large-scale upgrades to the air traffic system. I think he bailed when he realized he'd be at a focus point of the User Fees debate.

Will he be good for JetBlue? Only if he can convince Davis Neeleman to stop trying to reduce the number of employees per plane. Judging from his ATC staffing initiatives, I don't think that will happen.

You make a good point ... being the head of anything in the FAA is an almost impossible job. Seeing how things have gone in the FAA under Chew I just don't have any confidence in the guy, morale just plunged under him. I would say the only move he made that was good is he was the first one to jump off the sinking FAA Titanic.

It was only a week ago that he was taking some high level job with Hawaiian Airlines... now jetBlue ? Also ... what happened to not being able to work for an FAA "customer" after leaving the FAA ??? Normally we are required to wait a year or more ...

jetBlue had a rough year... they are having a lot of growing pains. I just read there is a software problem with the E190's ...
