Default Equipment Suffix

Do center/approach controllers have easy access to our equipment suffix? I thought it was printed up on the strip, but apparently not. Night after night, center or approach tries to clear me and other company flights to intersections when we are and always have been /A, and night after night we have to tell them "unable." What gives? Thanks!

Weird. They don't do this to us down here. Like on the way to Vegas we're given headings almost the whole time. The controllers will says, "How about you give me 060 for now and let me know when you start recieving X VOR."

It's on the strip. They probably aren't looking at it.

Most if not all centers have gone away from strips and are using URET, a computerized strip system. The equipment suffix is still displayed but along with a huge amount of other information. They may be not looking at it or your company may be filing you wrong.

Just use your dead reckoning skills when they give you direct to somewhere. You can get real good at it!!!

i agree that they're most likely busy and not taking that extra time when they can just try and clear you direct. they understand that you, as pic, bear responsibility to refuse a clearance that you cannot accept. they figure it out when you say 'unable direct...slant alpha'. they can, of course, give you a vector clearance direct - 'fly heading xxx, direct abc vor when able'..

We get that alot when we're flying for a broken DorkJet. Get cleared to an intersection and we say "sorry, unable, we're /A today." Long pause usually followed by an apology or quick correction.

OK, I need some help. I'm in the FAR/AIM now looking for the equipment type suffix designator information. Where might it be? I'm trying to update my aircraft equipment for DUATS/FLTPLAN/AOPA Flight Planner.

Update - Found it; the last beer affected my vision and search time.

They may take a look at it...and have no idea what it means. Sad, but true!
