What is the difference between magnetic heading and track? Thanks |

Magnetic heading is the direction we tell an aircraft to turn, I.E...the plane points his nose on a heading of 360, but if there is a strong east wind, the aircraft will not fly a 360 heading, the wind will push the a/c westbound. So the aircraft will actually be tracking for example a 340 heading even though his nose is pointed due north. Understand?

Just curious what made you decide to go pilot and leave ATC? Also did you know anyone from McConnell AFB there at McGuire? TB
My buddy works Deep Oceanic, is that with you guys?
Yes it is/was. I really didn't know anybody there though. Maybe Chuck Howard 9Who has since moved out to Milwaukee. I know Ed Milloy and Sal Mesineo, and that's about it. Maybe if you mention the name I can recall. Rick |

Former PATCO Controller - Worked RAPCON/TRACON/TOWER at AUS, SSF, BPT. Had offer to rehire at North Carolina but turned down because of such a low starting pay. Radar21 |

Hello there, I'm brand new to the scene, currently in Oklahoma City training. I'll be heading down to Ft. Myers, Florida in July to start my OJT for tower. I'm excited about this opportunity!! |

Everytime I come back from KPFN (panama city beach) they take me over ATL, thats the best experience ever, going over the airport and then the city. Of course this is at night when its not as busy. Any reason for this? LZU is about 30 miles north east of ATL |
