| I have to get a Cat 1 Med. before I can obtain my Commercial License, and I was just curious if they do a blood test during it. (I'm Canadian but I couldn't see the procedure being very different from the States.) I figure they will do a blood pressure check, but I'm more interested in if they actually take blood. Any help would be appreciated! |

In the states all you need (legally speaking) is a Second Class medical to excercise commercial privileges. First Class is for ATP privileges. But, no they don't do a blood test. They do a pee test (to look for diabetes) but no blood test. |

i got a class 1 in july. no blood draw, just blood pressure. however, i was only 21 at the time, if that has anything to do with whether or not they do a draw.
