Default Health/ Vision questions for ATC

I just had a few questions about the medical and vision evaluation for an ATC position.

First, can extreme near-sightedness disqualify you? I do see 20/20 with contacts, but I am not sure what they are looking for. What is the vision test like?

Second, if I do get severe headaches would this be an issue?

Also, I had fainted when I was 6 years old, but everything checked out to be okay and I never had aproblem since. Should I report this and is this also something to worry about for disqualification.

Thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated.

The vision testing is done using Snellen charts or vision testing machines such as a Titmus or Keystone. You just need to be able to read the letters.

The headaches may be an issue. Here is the link for headaches from the Guide http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/...x.cfm?print=go

The age 6 thing is probably a non-issue.

How are they on color vision? I can't pass the Ischera plates to save my life, but was able to pass a signal light gun test. I thought they were a bit more restrictive but just curious.

They use the ALT (aviation Light Test) which is a modified Farnsworth lantern

Thank you for the information, it was helpful.

As far as the headaches, what was on the list that you sent does not apply to me, so should I be able to relax?

Also, if the age 6 incident is a non-issue, should I even mention it?

You still need to report the headaches.
