| I have recently been offered an ATC position at ZJX, however there is one pending item that I am a little concerned about. I was diagnosed with Crohns 5 years ago, and have had a brief stint where I was hospitalized due to surgery. Since then (approximately 1 1/2 years ago) I have been Crohns free. I had my initial visit to the physician where I disclosed all of my medical information, along with a copy of my Specialists records. I assumed all was well, as 3 weeks later I received a phone call from the FAA with a firm class date. Last week though, I received a letter from the FAA stating I needed a Special Issuance, and my doctor needed to fill out a medical history form. Should I be concerned? My class date is not until July 8th, but I would hate to quit my job and move to OKC only to find out that my Crohns was a determining factor in not getting the ATC position. Will I hear back from the FAA if I am cleared? denied? Thanks! Dave |

| If the Crohn's disease is controlled, you will get the Special Issuance ![]() |
