Really? I got my bottle at Winco, and my mom got some at Costco. Both were in the vitamin section.

It doesn't work for everyone, but it works great on me. When I'm off my normal bodyclock time over in Europe, I'd wake up every two or so hours when I'm down for the night. With the melatonin, it smoothes out my sleep cycle so I can get a good, solid block of sleep rather than the normal:
Actually Doug, you gave me the idea to try it in a similar thread a while back--

Here is some info--though the Doc's idea of sex sounds a lot better

Melatonin helps me with the jet lag especially west to east. No ill effects noted. It is not a sleeping pill and it wont "knock you out". just helps the circadian rythms out a bit, and perhaps a placebo effect?

Alcohol can mess with sleep cycles, rem sleep and is a known cause of insomnia. i dont drink on trips nor a couple of days before. Each person is different, and dosage is a big factor. However, if not abused sometimes in the evenings two beers will just knock me out.

A friend of mine flies to Europe on a Hawker or Falcon and the first thing he does is hit the treadmill for an all out run for as long as he can do it for (usually around 15 minutes). He's gotten his Capt to so it as well. When they go to dinner, they avoid heavy meals and according to him, he hasn't suffered from jet lag or fatigue since he started doing this about 2 years ago.

Hope this helps

So funny, this was on msnbc.com

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24779956/

Starving yourself before a long flight may help prevent jet lag, researchers said on Thursday.

Normally, the body's natural circadian clock in the brain dictates when to wake, eat and sleep, all in response to light. But it seems a second clock takes over when food is scarce, and manipulating this clock might help travelers adjust to new time zones, they said.

"A period of fasting with no food at all for about 16 hours is enough to engage this new clock," said Dr. Clifford Saper of Harvard Medical School, whose study appears in the journal Science.
