| My son will be starting college in September. At 9 yrs of age he had an episode of kidney stones. Had lithotripsy to remove them. Dx of Hyperoxaluria. His urine oxalate level runs higher than normal---but has been stable since diagnosis. Basically, we have been told that the level is normal for him. Had ultrasounds and 24 hr urine tests done every 6 months or so the first few years after initial diagnosis. Now, they are done every year. Last one in January showed no formation of any stones and kidneys are functioning well. Had a nuc med renal function test at about 10-11yrs old and that was normal. He is very active in sports and this has never caused him to stop doing anything. He keeps his fluid intake higher than most people to be well hydrated. He has not had any re-occurance of stones since 1999. He currently takes Vit B6 and K-phos Neutral as prescribed by the nephrologist. How do you feel this will affect the possibility of him being able to be an Air Traffic Controller? At this point, he has no desire to become a pilot. Thanks |

| After reviewing the FAA standards for ATC, it appears there should be no problem in obtaining medical certification. The final decision will be that of the Regional Flight Surgeon. |
