Howdy folks, I'm new here yet and this is my first post on this site. I gave looked through the history of this particular forum and am pleased to see the doc available to answer all these questions from everywhere, thanks Doc! Now, for my question, I do I go about reporting something that was not previously reported. For instance, when I was a youngster (were talkin in the neighborhood of 5) I had something similar to hay fever. We were playin in the loft at Grandaddy's barn, and there was much hay dust flying around, I injested some and ended up heezing later that night. I have not had a similar reaction since about that time, now I get the occassional, seasonal allergies. I do I got about reporting such an event, since it was not originally reported. I do not recall remembering this when filling out the 8500 . . . Thanks Doc.

Two things: 1) just note that you had hay fever as a child and are no longer bothered. That you do not take medications for it at this time. 2) got to http://medxpress.faa.gov and complete the 8500-8 on-line. That way you will not have to remember the history, it will always be recorded there for you.

should I do the 8500 online thing now, or wait until my medical is up? additionally, what will the FAA say about it not being reported previously? Thanks Doc!

So elaborate on this a little bit more for me---are you saying that mild seasonal allergies that are controlled with medication (such as Clarinex or Claritian) are disqualifing for a Class II medical to be an ATC?

| NO!!!! The FAA guidelines are "The newer, non-sedating antihistamines (e.g., fexofenadine [Allegra], loratadine [Claritin], desloratadine [Clarinex]) including decongestant combinations, are acceptable for use by working ATCSs after review by RFS confirming the absence of adverse side effects during a brief trial of the drug.". |

I've never tried it so i'll give it shot. Hopefully my allergies will be gone by June. I think working in an office with a ton of other people makes it worse.
