Default Retinal tears

One of my clients recently learned that he had tears in his retinas. They were sucessfully repaired with laser surgery. Now he is concerned that he won't be able to hang on to his 2nd class medical. His surgeon told him not to worry, and when the time comes to renew just to have the AME call him because he has worked with that AME before.
Are there more hoops he will have to jump thru to get his medical now? It does not come due until September.

Default Re: Retinal tears

Have the surgeon complete a form 8500-7 (http://forms.faa.gov/forms/faa8500-7.pdf) and take that to the AME to submit with the physical.
