Default Differences between revalidation and renewal JAR medical

Hi, I wonder if you can help me understand if there are any differences in the medical tests carried out depending on whether you are undergoing a revalidation or a renewal of a JAR medical. Are exactly the same tests undertaken, or does a revalidation require a less extensive medical. I know some tests are undertaken at the initial medical rather than everytime, but I'm not clear if there is any difference in what is covered in revalidation vs renewal.

It depends on age, Class of Medical certificate and if Class 1 if it is for ATP or other commercial operations. The biggest difference is the allowed refractive error for the renewal vs the intial medical certificate. See the link:
