Yes doc...an ugly topic, but what is your feeling of the drug? I mentioned it in passing to my FAA doc, and he didn't seem to think it was that big of a deal. But I googled it and....my god!! If I decide to take it should I start shopping for a new liver on ebay now? I've never had any adverse reaction to any kind of medication, am in fairly decent shape, and rarely drink. The dermatologist who is suggesting starting a course of Lamisil said they now do "pulse" treatments. Take the drug one week a month, with regular blood tests to make sure your liver isn't turning into pate. Just curious what you think.

It is a great drug, much better than griseofulvin was for the same thing. I agree with the dermatologist and your AME. If you read the information on aspirin or Tylenol, you would not take it on a bet |

If you are taking the drug for an athlete's foot infection, you might try gentian violet. I'm in gyms and showers at the YMCA almost everyday and had a killer bout last year. I tried everything including griseofulvin. Finally, saw a podiatrist who turned me on to GV...the fungal infection cleared up within a month. No relapse. And it's cheap. Like $5 per bottle. It does not need a prescription, but is rare. The pharmacist will probably have to special order. If it's for the nail...good luck. I haven't run into that yet...but I never see an old guy at the gym that doesn't have nail problems.

I had a nail issue and went to the dermatologist. She wasn't too keen on giving me Lamisil b/c of the color vision side effects, so she prescribed a nail lacquer that worked just as well. It was expensive, but thanks to insurance it cost just as much as Lamisil would have for me....$5
