Hey Walt! As you know, I went to Africa about two weeks ago. I think Kristie may have brought something home from the office. A little lethargy, a little stuffy, a little back pain from time to time...but no fever, chills or other flu-like symptoms that are indicative of exposure to malaria. Do you think it's something of interest considering your experience with patients in the malaria ring in SE Asia?

Doug Sounds more like a viral cold. Malaria makes you SICK. You know you are sick too. Just watch it for a while and try some Tylenol. |

Thanks Walt! That's what I was thinking as well. Just a little bit of post third world paranoia!

A friend of Bill's had malaria once. The Good Doc's not kidding when he says it makes you sick with a Capital "S"! She was basically incapacitated, couldn't get out of bed, couldn't keep any food/water product of anykind in, in any way. I don't know if she actually ended up hospitalized, but she was under a doctor's close watch. If you had malaria, you'd know you had something, something BAD!

Doug, I hope you're not coming down with what I've had for the last couple of weeks - it has kicked my butt. Seems like everyone around here has it. If you're really stuffy, start taking that Mucinex stuff with guifenesin now!

I had the mildest cold I've ever had last week. All I had was slight nasal congestion, and that feeling you get when you know you are coming down with something. The stuffiness lasted 4 days and on the 5th day I woke up feeling 100%. What ever it was my body fought it off. I attribute that to my recent weight loss, better eating habits, and this new liquid food based multi-vitamin I've been taking. |
