Hi guys, I have a question: I recieved my first class medical on 07/2005. The regs concerning duration are a little unclear to me concerning whether or not my "First class" medical is still *technically* current. As I read the regs, my first class medical is still current because I have not exercised first class priviledges; only private pilot privledges. Am I reading this correct? Does the clock start ticking on my First class privledges as soon as I start using those privledges or does it pretty much expire the instant I try to use them, because it's been 2 years since my initial exam?? I was under 40 at the time of my examination. Thanks in advance! |

Assuming you were under 40 on the date of your medical, your First Class medical is still valid and current for Third Class privileges only.

Minnesota Flyer is correct. The "First Class privileges from a medical standpoint are only valid until the end of the 6th month after the physical is performed. It is not when you exercise them but when you are allowed to exercise them.
