About a month ago went into Kaiser complaining with some chest discomfort, after an EKG (which came back normal) I was put in Atenol (25mg) as a precaution due to the fact my blood pressure was 158/119 and told the feelings in my chest were due to work related stress Two week later my blood pressure is down to 138. But i am told i will stay on the drugs for the rest of my life. Will this be looked upon negatively in regional or major hiring situations down the road? |

You might have to be on the medication, it depends on the type of hypertension you truely have. Stress reduction is a big key to reducing high blood pressure,as well as weight reduction, healthy eating, and excercise.

It will not be a hiring issue. You will need to provide the evaluatuion report to the FAA to obtain a medical though. They will grant a Special Issuance and the AME can renew the medical each year after that. See the link here to see what you must provide. http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/.../hypertension/ |
