Default 7 day miracle (colon) cleaner

Ok, I'm watching TV and this infomercial comes on saying that "the average adult's colon is filled with toxic mucous, buildup, etc." And, that this product will *cleanse* the entire colon wall in 7 days... resulting in weight loss (10-20 lbs loss in mucous plaque if this product is used). I can't say that I've ever heard of this being a problem before. Is this thing legit?

Here's a link to its website. It looks kinda sketchy to me, but figured I'd ask.

Being up all night, I have seen several different commercials about colon cleaning products. I don't know if it's legit or not, but some of those commercials are downright nasty. In the one they even show the "results" after use.

I did hear that they pulled something like 30-40 pounds of "stuff" out of John Wayne after he died... sorta makes you wonder.

"The path to health is lined with a clean colon."

That's why I take metamucil every night. It tastes good and you feel really good in the mornings.

I heard they pulled about that much, if not more out of Elvis.

It is just so much BS. The colon is supposed to contain "waste". What do you think comes out of it?

There is no reason to use these products other than to line the pockets of the sellers with your money.

As most people over 40 should know and everybody over age 50 absolutely has to know, on the eve prior to getting a colonoscopy one can drink a gallon of a product called go-litley. You'll spend a couple hours on or near the toilet that night and in the a.m. have a completely pinky-clean colon for the good doctor to put on TV looking for polyps which initially are easily removed or mean-assed tumors which will sneakily send deadly cancer cells throughout ones body often killing the patient.
My girlfriend will probably die before summer thanks to this disease even while my sister who was luckier will forevermore have a hidden bag strapped on under her clothes. \
In short, the procedure is usually paid for by insurance over 50 and is very reliable information. Don't hesitate like my gal did ending up Stage 4- go get it done!

Doc,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't large doses of buckthorn root do pretty much the same thing?

The product called "Smoke Away" has you taking some heavy doses of that as part of the "cleansing" process. Taking it, my colon felt like the Chunnel on a Monday morning....

Heard that was a rumor started by PETA to protest red meat

Very sorry about your girlfriend
Has your sister considered ileo-anal anastamosis aka the "j-pouch" procedure?...It requires no external appliance as continence is restored. If she does not qualify, there is also what is called a "Koch Pouch" which also requires no bag, but there is no continence (a catheter is inserted into the stoma to empty) I've had the j-pouch done and am currently wearing a bag until I get reconnected in march...the bag sucks.

On a sidenote...I think 50 is too long to wait for a colonoscopy-there are many problems that can manifest themselves besides cancer at any age-Also, they are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be-I even had my last one with no sedation whatsoever and watched the procedure on the screen-interesting. I think it's just because "butt" stuff is so taboo.

I've usually used a combiination of magnesium citrate and dulcolax to cleanse prior to procedures.
