Default AA medical and my audiogram....

Wow, a division of AMR actually did something nice for me! I'd called AA medical over a week ago and asked how to get a copy/printout of the results of my new-hire audiogram in 1995, and I was told I would have to send the request in writing to a fax number. No problem! I hadn't gotten around to actually writing the letter yet, but today I got a hand-addressed envelope from AA. That raised my eyebrows. I opened it, and inside was a printout of my new-hire audiogram!

So now I can take that to my audiogram appointment on Thurs, and compare the two!

I'm in shock, AA did something nice for me!

I'm really curious to see what it shows. My dad says I wasn't exposed long enough to have suffered any damage. Personally, I think 7 years is plenty of time. We'll see what it comes up with!

I have no idea what AA is like to work for, but I have had nothing but excellent service in First Class for 125K FF miles (frequent flier, not to be confused with Frog_Flier, miles). When I was stuck at DCA on 9-11 they were very helpful and worked hard to get me out. Yea, it was 8 days later and took 26 hours to finally get home, but they talked with me, very courteously, for three to four hours a day over that time span. As a passenger, I am delighted with their service.

Amber,

Let us know. I think 7 years is long enough to have a hearing loss. We saw aircrew who were drafted for 2 years during the Viet Nam war who had significant hearing loss.

I had a patient over the weekend who flew C141's during Vietnam and after for the AFR. I forget what he flew before that. He loved to talk about the 141. He was as DEAF as a doornail. One of the first comments he made to me about his hearing loss was "I wished the AF would have given us helmets to wear to protect our ears, all we had were these POS headsets the didn't do diddly-squat (I hope I spelled that right)" He was really great to talk to, but I had to tell a coworker that if I was in there for more than 5 minutes, to come get me.
