I am a 40 year old private pilot who has been inactive for a few years. I've recently had some gastric troubles. I received the results of my upper GI endoscopy and gall bladder scan. I was told my gall bladder was not functioning correctly and needed to be removed. Also, I was told I had a "visual" case on Barrett's esophagus. The doctor did 4 biopsy samples while performing the endoscope procedure. The biopsies were negative for dysplasia(sp?). However, I was told I must take acid-blocking medication such as aciphex, prilosec, etc. AND have a follow-up endoscope in 1 year. Given the recent test results, is there any chance I can hold a medical certificate again? Thanks for your time, Mark P. |

| ![]() ![]() Yes you can. First, if the gall bladder is removed, just report it on the next medical. Since the esophagitis is treated with medications like PPI's (Nexium et.al.) just report that on yoru next exam. Enjoy the flying. |
