so i had surgery and now i get this pretty cool little pad that supposedly helps my bones grow quicker and supply more blood to the repaired area. my question is do they really work or is it a hit or miss type of treatment? a little more information i broke my 5th metetarsil in two spots all within 2cm. one of the breaks was classified as a "Jones Fracture". any and all responses are welcome and thank you for your response.

Yes, they really do work. Most of the time one doesn't need one but with the fracture location your have, there is a 15% rate of non-union so it is a good idea to do the bone stimulator. Good luck with it. |

Back to Kristie's comment. The bills are sky high, especially if oyu don't have insurance. The insurance only pays about half the charges. The whole what is charged game is really a dance with the insurance companies. If one does not have insurance, they should ask about the cash discount price or negotiate to pay what Medicare pays since that is now the standard for reimbursement. If one looks at the cost of billing, colelcteing and the insurance "discounts", many places will take half or so if you can pay cash up front. Crazy, screwed up system. |
