Default Blisters

Hello Doc

Recently I had hot food spilled on my arm and now i've been getting blisters each day. Day after day the new blisters are getting bigger. Should i pop the blisters of leave them alone.

Thanks

Default Re: Blisters

When you get blistering from a burn, you have a second degree burn. If the blisters are closed and full of fluid, leave them alone. When they "pop" and the fluid drains, you should pull the dead skin from the wound and keep the new skin underneath clean with soap and water. You do not need to apply anything to it, just keep it clean and if you want to cover it, do so with a non-adherent dressing like Adaptic which you can purchase at the drug store.

If the burn is larger than the size of your palm, you should see a physician. You also should be seen if your last tetanus shot was more than 10 years ago.

Who spilled the food on you? You may never need to work again.
