Default Contacts vs Glasses?

G-Day all. I'm getting ready to get my first Class1 knocked out and I just have 2 questions for those who may have expeienced this.

1) I have glasses that correct my distant vision to 20/20 no prob, but for the near vision side of it I can read the 20/40 line (a little fuzzy) but.., If I take them off I can get to 20/20 uncorrected no prob. Will the examiner have a prob with me putiing them on for the first half and then removing them for the near vision test? Don't think he will but just double checking.

2) I also wear contacts that do a great job getting me to 20/20 distant and intermediate. But I don't think I could get to the 20/40 near vision I need with them on. I'm thinking about saying that I plan to just wear glasses in flight and not contacts. Or.., Would it be ok to try then if I can't pass to simply agree to wear glasses in flight and not contacts? What do you all think? Thanks in advance.

Are the glasses you are wearing Bifocals or "progresives". They are sometimes refered to as no-line bifocals. I work in optics, so I may be able to help. Or are you wearing glasses for distant vision only. Also what is your age??

I am kind of adding to your questions, sorry. If you have "must wear glasses" on your medical do the regionals or airlines look at that when hiring or do they just check the mark for 1st class medical? thanks for the help.

Im' 42. I just recently had my vision checked and was given a bifocal prescription. So my "new" glasses are no-line (progressive) lenses that correct my near and far vision. Don't really like them though, just not used to them. I also still have my old regular lense glasses that correct distant. My vision isn't too bad with my left eye being 20/30 and right being 20/50 uncorrected.

Sounds like you have the wrong power in your bifocal. You should be able to read 20/20 with them on. The doctor will probably insist that if you are wearing glasses that you need to be able to see both near and far with them on. I don't know if they let you take them off or not. I would get a recheck on your perscription, and get the glasses made right.
