Question yes...another color vision question

I did some research on this forum, but I didn't quite find the answers I was looking for.
QUESTION:
Can you take an alternate color test with a regular opthamologist and present a demonstration of ability letter to the FAA, or do you have to take the alternate color test with an AME??

Thanks for your responses. They help me a lot and I appreciate them.

Default Re: yes...another color vision question

You can take the alternate color vision test of your choice with any doctor, whether it be an AME, optometrist, opthamalogist, general practice, etc. You need to have him/her fill out the the FAA form for an eye evaluation. You can find that form at http://www.leftseat.com or http://www.aviationmedicine.com Let me know if you have more questions as I have been through this process.
