I did some research on this forum, but I didn't quite find the answers I was looking for. QUESTION: Can you take an alternate color test with a regular opthamologist and present a demonstration of ability letter to the FAA, or do you have to take the alternate color test with an AME?? Thanks for your responses. They help me a lot and I appreciate them. |

You can take the alternate color vision test of your choice with any doctor, whether it be an AME, optometrist, opthamalogist, general practice, etc. You need to have him/her fill out the the FAA form for an eye evaluation. You can find that form at http://www.leftseat.com or http://www.aviationmedicine.com Let me know if you have more questions as I have been through this process.
