Anyone know him? Anyone know why he "left" ATP? I was dealing with him for awhile... up until about a month ago. I called (JAX call center) today, and the "other" Greg said Ferris had not been there for like 6 months. Um... ..... .... Then... who was I talking to that was saying they were Greg Ferris? And BTW --- Today I found out the 141 program took another DECREASE!! 39K now. Vets are responsible for about 14,9K (plus checkride fees and housing).

I had a similar run in at KADS with the cheif pilot who i had heard great things about. I met with the guy on a monday (guess I should have checked his ID) and when I called back on thursday I was told he hadn't worked there in 3 weeks. I don't know if they pulled the switch-a-roo on me or what.

It was at ATP. I was looking to get my MEI. The cheif pilot at the time was supposed to be Kris Swann, I had heard from a lot of people that he had a good program over there at ADS. I set up an appointment to see their planes and take a look around at their place. I ended up meeting someone who I thought was Kris and talked to him for over an hour. Less than 5 days later when I tried to reach him I was told that Kris had quit to return to flying corporate and hadn't been working there in over 3 weeks. I'm not really sure who I met or anything but I know he introduced himself as the cheif pilot, Kris Swann.

Hmmm weird... Greg was a good guy. But I will tell you what, he's ONE HELL of a SALESMEN! It is what it is. He was in the game of SALES. And he did a FANTASTIC job of talking the game and getting students signed up, getting their loans to the proper people etc...

Kris was located in Arlington. The instructor in ADS, Ben, is a member on these boards so I will let him chime in on that part. I don't know what anyone would have to gain from impersonating Kris.

I apologize. I stand corrected it actually was at GKY where I met him. I had visited so many other flight schools I forgot which one I had stopped at. I had ATP @ ADS mixed up with AF. I'm not accusing anyone of impersonation i just found it odd that after I met with him monday he was gone by thursday. I'm sure there is a logical explanation for the whole incident, it was probably in fact just an error by whoever answered the phone that day. (which I assumed). I got the rating and never lost any sleep over it so we are all good!

I liked him. He seemed to run the GKY school well and I liked his semi-macabre sense of humor. Also its kind of creepy to use my first name like that when I don't know yours! ![]() On an unrelated note I have to say that a lot of the new package deals that ATP has been offering lately are actually a good value. $495 for 4 hours of dual in a G1000, including instructor? I don't think I'd ever buy that (I don't see the attraction of the fancy avionics, but I accept that some do) but it is much cheaper than comparable rates at FBOs with G1000 equipped aircraft which are usually like $110 minimum/hr plus instructor (Usually like $40.) The 2k multi program is nice too.

Same here....never had an issue with Kris. As long as a CFI took care of the students...and did their job....he didn't get involved. I was there for 20 months total (guy on the street thru the whole shabang and then CFI'd).....enjoyed it all

There is such a person called Greg Ferris...it's me! I guess it has been about 6 months ago since I have worked for ATP...how time flies! I had a somewhat rocky ending at my time with ATP...to make a long story short, I had some issues with an individual who worked there - situational, caused a lot of stress that was unneeded. I truly feel this individual was in a position with more power than he should have and exploited it in indirect ways. Hey, life happens and we all move on (I have found out that this exists in all companies, as it must be a requirement ). ATP is by far the best flight school out there for civilian flight training, so please don't take my situation and blame ATP for it. There are a multitude of highly dedicated individuals at HQ (Jim, Phil, Paul, Ben, Mike, Greg C, James, Justin, Courtney, Kathy, Kellen, Steve, Chris, Shelley, Jessica, Kurt, Carl, Jenny, Dana, and Eric to name a few ) that form the base of operations and set the framework for success. But, as we all know, the ATP flight instructors make the magic happen! Many of you are my friends and I wish you all the best in the future! As for me, I am working on a second degree in aero/astro engineering. It has been a struggle, but dreams are worth struggle. I already have a B.S. in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle, but designing aircraft has always interested me, so I finally made the plunge to make it happen. Life is too short to give up on goals. If flying is what you have always wanted to do, then by all means, find a way to go to ATP and make it happen! I was the VA Coordinator during my time at ATP and I am glad that I was able to help a lot of you with your paperwork...gotta love the government and their processes! It was always my goal to be as courteous as possible and help every way I could, and again, I thank you for your service to our country. I am really prior USAF, so I truly understand what all of you have to go through to get to this point. I can definitely share my knowledge about the VA as well as my experiences with any of you...I am always willing to help! -Greg F |

Thanks mxflyer! If you are interested in engineering, feel free to ask. It seems all I have in my head these days are computational fluid dynamics equations floating around...

I did forget to mention someone in my previous post...Robert! If ATP did not have an excellent maintenance director and staff, then all would be lost! By the way, talk about one heck of an r/c helo pilot
