Default Anyone know which FMS Software they give in the CRJ Course?

Just curious if the software for the FMS in the CRJ course is provided by Bombardier. I could sure use a copy of it for practice...

Thank you...ILS

I don't know anything about the CRJ course but Bombardier doesn't make a FMS they just put the system in thier aircraft.

I did the turbine transition course in the SAAB 2000 and learned the Collins 4200 FMS. I'm not an authority on the subject but the instructor said that this system or some variation of it is in pretty much everything. At first it is somewhat intimidating but after working with for a few hours it starts to makes sense.

Having a good understanding of the Garmin 430 was a big help. FSI had a trainer but it was an entire computer that was custom made just for that purpose. Seemed a little bit more involved than just a program download like the Garmin....

Considering that ATP is charging you for what the 100-day license costs for the software ( plus the book and ground school), AND since it requires a dynamic key from the web each time you use it (hashed component ID like XP used, only this is a web-app instead of a once-off registration).... you ain't getting a copy. Besides, unless you've had some kind of walkthrough, its improbable that you'd make much headway on your own.

Here's the site with a description--

Found out that it is the Collins 4200 FMS in the CRJ which is what we use in the SAAB 2000 here at FSA. We have a CBT program for it but I was hoping for a little more "user friendly" version. The one we have has a "big" book that goes with it but it isn't all that clear for a first time user. One would think they would have a more interactive "follow along" CBT program by now. You are right about the walk through thing. Thanks for your help guys...ILS

If you just sit down and try and figure out that trainer it will never work. (Believe me I tried). Ask one of the guys from the sim department to walk you thru it, if they are not busy they usually will help.
