| Old Skool | I noticed they didn't come back at all. . .so I wanted to post it here for any one in the future. Just a little friendly warning about assuming that all 141 schools are VA approved. Quote:

To both the guys here talking about VA training, and needing to find it. . . Make sure the school you decide to attend, is VA Approved for the programs you will be taking. Such as, Instrument Airplane, Commercial Single Engine Land, Multi-Engine Land, Certificate Flight Instructor, Multi-Engine Instructor, and Certificate Flight Instructor-Instrument. If you need help finding one, let me know. But do not fall into the trap of thinking ALL 141 schools are VA approved, THAT IS NOT THE CASE Just trying to help another brother out. Also take note: The VA has NOT approved ANY RJ or jet transition course from ANY school - nationwide, that is, they haven't approved it for "single" or stand-alone training. If the training is included in some sort of overall package that the VA has approved, you better read the VERY fine print and make sure you will be getting reimbursed for it. Dealing with the VA can be a headache, so choose a school who has a good track history of getting things done for their students. | ||

| I've never seen a "list" of approved 141 schools that are VA approved, and when I called the VA they said that they didn't have such a combined published list. Trust me, if the school has is approved for VA benefits, they will plaster every piece of advertising they publish with it. But, make sure to read the fine print that the programs that you are interested in are indeed covered for VA approval. Then, call the VA office and weed your way through the disaster of a phone menu and talk to someone that can say yes or no to the school that you are inquiring about and the specifics from the VA about what the school is approved for. This is what worked for me.

| Why is this in the ATP forum? ATP never claims to be 141 or tries to trick you into believing they are. ATP would not be able to do what they do if they went 141. 61 is the path of least resistance. I remember working in the call center and people asking about VA bennies all the time and we had to tell them no sorry... |

| Old Skool | Is it that big of a problem? A couple guys who posted in a previous thread, here - in the ATP forum, had questions about the VA process. Figured they would be more likely to view this thread considering they frequent the ATP forum. This was the original thread. http://forums.jetcareers.com/airline...go-to-atp.html (Decided not to go to ATP) |

| I know this doesn't belong in the ATP thread but to answer DE727UPS's question there is a list of va approved schools here is the link: http://inquiry.vba.va.gov/weamspub/b...ionCriteria.do go to "program type" scroll down to "flight" and pick which state you want to search for. If the link doesn't work go www.va.gov click on education benefits on left side and scroll to "search for approved programs" I hope this helps some, I know the pain of trying to finding a va approved school but trying to find one that also has financing is even harder, I have to drive more than an hour for lessons when I live 5 minutes away from an airport that isnt va approved!!! |
