Default About Flights, X-countries, etc

How do the flights work at ATP? I heard it is dispatched which means we can't choose our routes.

How about the flight plan? Are all flights for ATP on IFR or VFR?

On your cross countries dispatch sends you where they need the plane, often moving the airplane to or from a maintenance base.

During the cross countries with a flight instructor (during the instrument portion of the training) there are usually a few choices that meet the FAA requirements (for distance).

All cross counties are on IFR flight plans, which makes sense since they are all done during or just after the instrument portion of the course.
