Would love to see airlines raising their pay as well. Pretty sad when your salary goes down when you move from a C172 to a Regional A/C. -Rob |

LoL third time in 2008 I have goofed up spelling in the topic title! I hear ya Rob. I was originally thinking of trying to rush through my CFI time if I got on with ATP. Now, I think I would stick around and wait for the right opportunity if the wage is as livable as this.

I am trying to get my CFI done by sometime this yr. Hopefully I'll be able to get on with one of the locations. Sounds like a really great place to build time and garner the experience necessary to make the next step. I'm just curious to find out if the $2000/mth varies with hours instructed. What is the average hours at the Houston location? Does dual given vary by location?(ofcourse in the northeast location or colder climates it wld vary)

You get paid a flat rate of $1600 for the first 90 days and then $2000 each month past that, regardless of hours. Rest assured, they will get their moneys worth (So I have heard anyway). From that, you get bonuses based mainly on your students passing checkrides the first time. As far as dual-given in general and at the HOU location, it varies I am sure. although, weather permitting, I have heard it is pretty easy to do 80-100 hrs/mth.

When I saw this I started to think about applying there. Not a bad deal at all, only problem is that I think I would end up flying too much and not getting my school work done.

Its good to hear ATP is raising the pay for non ACP instructors. Its still a joke that they start out at 1600 for the first 90 days, but its a start. I just put my logbook into logbook pro. During my instrucing "career" at ATP, I averaged 78 hours a month. my highest month was 120 hours, lowest was 30.

| Old Skool | Eh..... I wouldnt go that far.... 2k from ATP is with taxes not taken out. Therefore you have to take that out before you think its 2k.... You will make more then that at an airline.... You just have to be smart with how you spend it!

ATP instructors are contract labor. And if you are in Texas there's no state income tax. You just get a 1099 at the end of the year. If you factor in the housing and other expenses on your itemized deductions you shouldn't be having to pay much in to the Feds either.
