The only information I have been able to find about ATP's purchase of Cessna's LSA is from the press release. Anyone know anything more than what it says? How are they going to incorporate those into the program?

Good question. I'm still not sure what LSA's and sport pilot certificates are for in general. LSA= Price of used Bonanza for performance of a C-150. You'd be better off buying a Cub or a Champ and learning to use your feet. |

I think the biggest attraction for the sport pilot is that they don't need a medical certificate. That could work well for someone who knows they would fail the exam.

LSA just means that it CAN be used for Sport PIlot training. For ATP's, I imagine it just means they have a new, cheap trainer for the Private. | |

"LSA just means that it CAN be used for Sport Pilot training. For ATP's, I imagine it just means they have a new, "cheap" trainer for the Private"-deadstick. I dunno amigo, the used 172's can be bought for half of what an LSA sells for new. I think you're probably right though, ATP may be looking to appeal to those with SAS (Shinny Airplane Syndrome). |

![]() The demographic, supposedly, is for people who are interested in fun, leisure flying but want newer airplanes. I believe there will be an optional BRS on the SkyCatcher as well, which will appeal to new owners. I think it fills the niche vacated by the 150/152. Fine. It should drive the price down on the used ones.
