Default Decided to go to ATP

I went out and got my private pilots license in 2006 and fell in love. Unfortunately with school and sports I didn’t have the time to fly much, only on select weekends and a little bit in the summer. Needless to say I couldn’t get my other ratings finished due to having school. With that said I’m going to head down to phoenix this summer and get everything finished up, then hopefully find some place up in Seattle to instruct at. The information people have provided on here has been very influential in me making my decision. If anyone has any advice on what to expect I would appreciate to hear it.

Have fun and get ready to fly a ton in the three months you are there. Study hard and you will do fine...

What he said - study hard. Specifically, stay ahead of the game - don't wait to get your written tests done (cax, foi, fia, fii) until the last minute, you won't be going to CFI school unless those are done. It's a blast, have fun!

Phoenix is a good location and youll get to visit the rest of the United States from there.

Have fun and dont take everything too serious.

Youll meet a ton of people, get phone #s from everyone. You never know who you might be asking to walk in your resume somewhere.

I just finished my last checkride on tuesday morning and I had a great experience. The best advice I could give someone is to not rely on your instructors for your education. Study every night and if your out of stuff to study then prep for cfi school ahead of time. The key is to find that balance where you can study a bit everynight but also go out and have a good time and stay relaxed. Don't procrastinate on your writtens. The guy I started the program with did that and they decided to start his cfi school early and dispatch called and said he had 4 days to take his CAX,FOI,FIA finish his CFI pretest and take his ME Commercial checkride. He pulled it off somehow but thats not the way to do it.
