Default Leaving for ATP....

Well, it's 11:45PM central time on Wednesday 01/30/08 and I'm getting all my stuff set to leave for ATP- Panama City, Florida tomorrow. I will be leaving at 5:00AM and will over night in Birmingham and then arrive at Panama City on Friday. I gotta say that I am both excited and freaked out to be leaving for more than 5 months. Haha, that sounds pretty gay, but I think it's really just the amount of money I'm spending that's probably freaking me out. Anywho, I thought I'd let you guys know that I am leaving and that I will report back on my expreiences when I have time.

when you enrolled into the program, how far out did you planned? did you apply monthes ahead before the class date?

I signed up before Christmas and my class starts February 4th. When I signed up, I was limited at which locations I could select because some locations were already booked up. Pananma City I guess only had a slot or two left when I called up to enroll. So I'd assume you need to register about a month or so ahead of time to ensure you get a slot. They do charge you the $2000 deposit right away but it will be refunded once they get the first disbursment.

Hey Jet,
Have a safe trip down. I will be doing the same thing in 4 weeks to Daytona. Maybe we'll meet up during the XC phase.

Hey guys,

Here's my update. I am currently more than half way to Panama City. I am held up in a La Quinta in Birmingham, Alabama. I gotta tell you, I drove about 11 hours and I'm beat. Luckily I only have like a 5 hour drive tomorrow and will arrive at Panama City. Can't wait to be there. I'll see you guys soon. Bronx, hopefully we can meet up on a cross country. I'll buy you a drink or something. Jackson, I'll see you out there. Maybe meet up one of these days at the airport or something. As for right now, I gotta go hookup my 360 and see if I can get onto xbox live. Need to unwind a bit!

Lata,

Ben

Bah, I drove to panama once for a spring break. 15 hrs..left at 8pm, arrived the next morning at 11ish. Promptly checked into our room and then got smashed at the bar. Came back, we got into a "convoy" of spring breakers headed north. Did it in less than 13 hours, and averaged over 90 mph the whole trip. Nothing like going through knoxville , over the bridge in construction doing 110 mph. Stupidity yes!

Those days are long gone, and my retreating hair line has brought about grand wisdom. But its fun to relive the memories. Maybe when I feel gererous I will tell you all about Woodstock 99. Me, my mothers van, and 6 girls. The odds of that...If I could only relive those days once more.

Dang man... drive it all in one night! haha I have done the indy to daytona drive on 5 different times in one night.... Anyways best of luck bud. You will really enjoy things and just work hard. The private days are actually pretty relaxed as compared to the Instrument stages. Just remember that after you get your private and start the ACP you are in the books not only during the time you are working with an instructor but when you are on x/cs you are studying and preparing.... If you do that you will do fine.... Best of luck and keep us updated!

Yeah I am in Panama City now. I went by the airport and tried going to the ATP office but no one was there I guess. Seems like they share an office because there were other people there who told me no one from ATP was in. I guess I'll check back tomorrow. Have you gone by the office yet? Anyways, I'm staying with my dad at a hotel on the beach, it's pretty sweet. The weather here totally beats the Chicago weather.

Hell yeah it's the SunSpree. I saw the BK but I opted to go to Outback. Besides, I had my dad pay. About 12oz of steak and four beers later, I asked the waitress to wheel me out, haha.

Where does one go about getting drinks around here? I wanted to get a beer but I don't think the Holiday Inn has a lounge.

well, if you got money to spend, you can go to any of the bars on the beach, but if you want a good atmosphere & lower prices, you're going to have to go to the city-side of the bridge. Places like the No-Name & The Place... also, my house always has plenty to drink....

Hey don't forget to drive down to Destin when you have a day off. AJ's at fishermans wharf.....Best Seafood around. And it has a bar upstairs. Also check out the Hog's Breath Saloon classic Destin bar. Plenty of good golf around as well. I played the Raven course @ Sandestin last summer, it was like 2 weeks after they held a Champions Tour event there.

Holy crap Hudson county is well represented on JC. You're from Secaucus, I'm from Weehawken, and there's a guy on here from North Bergen.

Don't let anyone on this site talk crap about Jersey. Especially that trash talker amorris.

Come on....This isn't the place for that question. That horse has been beat again and again. The guy is posting about his trip down to ATP and his experiences to go along with his up coming training.

Do not turn it into another...."Degree bashing thread".
