I am planning on attending the program at ATP's atlanta location. I was just wondering if anyone knows what the graduation or completion rates are for the Career Pilot Program. And if anyone knows...what are the placement rates for all pilot positions for those who complete the program. I know everyone has the option of working as a CFI and several regionals have lowered the minimums , but i wanted to know of there is anyone who finishes this program and has found themselves without a job. Any input would be helpful. It's p-nut butter jelly time...

Thanks Rob, I was hoping to get some numbers away from ATP. Not to bash ATP, they want to as positive a spin on everything to get you into school. Not a problem for me but i guess I will call ATP on Monday.

maddog, Chances are no flight school out there will place any marketing funds into the statement: "XX% of students that learned to fly here were unsuccessful in getting hired at the airlines!". ![]() I'm also willing to bet that you will not get a "straightforward" answer to your question no matter what flight school you called on Monday. That said... It would behoove you to visit the flight schools you are interested in and get a feel for whether or not those schools seem on the "up and up"... and if they feel like a good fit for you and your goals. Also... with the understanding that "nothing in guaranteed in aviation", I've found that in the past... those that focused on the potential of NOT passing were less successful than those who went in to this business with an attitude of "No matter what someone else's story is... I will be succussful." Just a short rant... apologies for chiming in... and welcome to JetCareers! Bob

I think pass/fail depends on the type of person who goes through the program. If you believe you can pass and actually work hard and study, why wouldn't you be able to pass and go far in aviation. Now, if you sit on your butt and never study and then go for a checkride.. well, you're probably screwed. I would think these methods could most likely be used in all walks of life. Ben |

I know one guy out of 8 that I was going through with that screwed up in CFI school and didn't make it all the way through. If you go into it knowing its gonna be tough and that the next 5 months or so are gonna be nothing but aviation and checkrides then you will do fine. The people that I have heard of dropping out were the "my daddy paid for me to do this and I don't need to study because everything has always been given to me types". There were some guys that weren't the sharpest tools in the shed and they made it through because they were dedicated. Or you can goto Jet U or Gulfstream ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the info Captain Bob -- I just wanted to say quickly that i appreciate your insight. I am not trying to focus on the potential of not passing. I just want to know how well ATP does their job of getting students passed. By the way, the fail/washout/dropout rate is 7%. 93% of all students finished the program they started. I was also trying to judge the rate at which they place their grads into jobs. Unfortunately they only track the number of students hired by the regionals. I wanted to see what the placement rate was for all job positions, IE: regional, charter, corporate, flight school, etc. I have a study partner who is getting his PPL, i already have mine, and then I will be going to ATP around the same time he starts the ACPP. I have no misconceptions about how much i will need to study though. In fact, I passed my Instrument written this past weekend. ![]() Like i said, i just wanted to judge what the placement rate is for the school. I need to sell this to my co-borrower and they also want to know that I will be able to work after school. I am sure I will find something!

Im willing to guarantee that if you finish the program completely and finish as a CFII - MEII. You WILL have a job somewhere. Places are dieing for instructors right now, there are tons of opportunities. If you quit after commercial, well its all about luck then. -Rob |

But the whole "You have a better chance of getting hired if you go to ATP" deal is crap. You dont need ATP to get hired by an airline. -Rob | |

| Senior Member | You just seemed concerned with it. Im just letting you know from a former ACPP student, that going to ATP has neither aided or hurt my chances of employment so far. The 129 hour of multi-engine time that I left ATP with however will help in going to an airline. -Rob |
