Just saw this job posted on the ATP Website. I've never heard of these positions at ATP before. Is this something new they're trying? Anyone have details? Quote:

There's a guy I know of at my company that is a sim instructor with ATP on his days off. He says they are expanding the operation because of an increase in demand. I'm not sure what it pays though.

Personally, I'm interested in the "CFI & Customer Information Specialist position." | |

Thanks for the info. I think I'll send them a resume Monday.

They used to have the "Pit boss" doing this. He had to squeeze it into his schedule (along with whipping the instructors in the pit to work the "rock pile"). Speculation: New instructors don't have to go to JAX to work in the pit, so they must have non-instructors in the pit. The pit boss probably isn't a CFI anymore. That would explain why they need someone to be a ground / sim instructor: to get guys who have already passed the MEI, CFII, and CFI checkrides up to company standards before releasing them to instruct students. IMO: It would be a crappy job. ATP needs someone permanent & trustworthy to open and lock the building at unusual hours so that people with CFI, CFII and MEI can practice steep turns and VMC demos in the sim while they wait for their "Rich Ride". |
