| Any source on the rumor? I am sure it will be the talk of the office tomorrow morning if its true. Guess we can all check FAA.GOV tomorrow afternoon as it would be an "incident" |

| Senior Member | It's pretty freaking rare considering the amount of hours ATPs seminoles fly each month. I think they said in orientation there had only been 5, and 2 of those had DEs on board. I also haven't heard anything about this incident. Also hope everyone's ok if this really did happen.

| Agent Smith | Oh, man, bad karma to make fun of a gear up! Last time I cracked a joke about ERAU's infamous "Ted Sled", there I was on short final, single engine and had already psychologically blocked out the "AAAAAICK AAAAAICK AAAAAICK" gear warning out of my head and darned near screwed the pooch. "I'm going missed" "Why?" "Dude, gear...hello?!" "Oh, yeah, uhh, lemme give you the other engine back"

| Agent Smith | You just HAD to see Ted come in. The guy declared an emergency, burned off fuel for an hour which gave 80% of the campus time to grab cameras and camcorders and rush down to the airport. I think even the local news was out there to film it as well. Screeeeeee! The door pops open, three people jump out and the crowd's screaming, "Run, Ted! Run! Shake a leg!", everything on camera. There had to be at least 100 riddle students out there. Then I thought, "Note to self: Self? If I have a gear problem, pre-burn fuel, then come back to the traffic pattern and then declare, not giving my fellow alumni time to form a 'welcoming party'" I think about three weeks later, we had another seminole have a 'sword fight' with the runway in Cottonwood a few weeks later. Down in the flare, *schwing* *schwing* *schwing*, and was able to execute a go around, drop the gear and land.

| Bad Karma indeed. I know I've "forgot" the gear to the point of being asked "do you want the gear" enough times. If it weren't for other crewmembers or the gear warning systems, I'm sure we'd be seeing a lot more "sword dances".

| it'd be harder than hell to gear an ATP plane, abeam touchdown: "gear down before landing checklist" on base: "blueline gump" on final: "400 feet, gear down, stabilized" at risk of destoying my karma, you'd have to really be behind the airplane to screw that up, that's why ATP does it that way |

A good family friend of mine told me something once: "There are 2 kinds of pilots........Those who have landed gear up, and those who havent YET..." - Coming from a guy with 30,000 + hours
