Has anyone attened ATP in SAC? How was it? Is going to ATP a good choice to become a competent pilot or does it go too fast? Just want to know if it is worth all the money. Also wanted to know about safety pilot time at atp. Does it make up the 190 ME time that atp gives you?

That is incorrect, You will get 140 hours of multi time, and about 37 hours of that will be safety pilot time, your hand flying about 100 multi, plus the 3 hours jet time which you run the auto pilot. bornse95, I thought it was a very good school, the dropout rate at PHX seemed to be like 50%, or at least in my CFI class, Its something you will have to work hard on though, but you will be a confident pilot, at least on the multi level stage, The hardest part for me was going back to the Cessna haha. It is a little expensive now that they raised their prices. There are cheaper schools but it will take twice as long to get your ratings. Ive flew to SAC a couple times, Its a good location, and you will probably get to fly to FL, so lots of Cross Country experience, which IMO is the best thing about ATP, (doing approaches down to minimums at airports all over the country) | |

140 hours of multi - the other 50 hours is sim time. 37 hours of multi for the private multi and instrument rating. You then fly about 60-70 hours XC - half of which is safety pilot time. The rest of the time you burn getting your commercial rating, MEI and II. Keep in mind that during CFI school you usually have to fly a good chunk of hours just to get to your examiners. |
