Does anyone have any info/know of anyone who has gone through the self-paced program. I'm really leaning towards ATP but the 90-day thing seems kinda rushed so I'm trying to weigh the benefits of doing the 90-day verus the self paced...

I did the self paced in Dallas. I had a full time job the entire time. I set up a permanent schedule with my instructors (plural because they change as they get hired). I went to the airport 4 days a week for about 20 hours total. Taking out weather delays I finished in 6 months. You can go as fast as you want or as slow as you want. I enjoyed my pace as I literally read every book cover to cover. Let me know if you have any other questions. I am in Jacksonville right now waiting for a spot to open in Dallas....so I have all the time in the world. |

cool stuff. i was thinking of something along those lines. i work at a dealership right now full time and also go to college which is killing me on getting my PPL which is why programs like ATP and FlightSafety looked appealing since they offer a lot more structure, a quicker pace and they seem to have a good track record with getting people into airline/charter/corporate jobs (which is where i want to end up)...to me, it would make more sense to "get away" and get done with your ratings and work ur way up to an airline job versus staying here and crawling through my ratings...i was considering possibly working at a dealership/something where ever i went (that industry is actually facing job shortages comparable to regionals) which is why the self-paced thing seemed appealing although it would be a little more (no free housing) and it would take a little longer..the other side of the coing is i'd rather take my time, make sense of whats happening and get it right rather than rush through it and that industry is very demanding with long hours...i have a buddy in Dallas though and was leaning towards that..

I am currently in Jacksonville waiting to get back to Dallas. GKY is a busy location. The best way to get an idea of getting a spot is to give the 800 number a call. They can give you an idea right away of how things are looking. When I went thru I got a date right away. Self Pacers are pretty easy to schedule.
