Default Day One

So it all starts tomorrow all this studying and getting information from all of you has finally come to the first class. I have decided that I am going to post how the program is going for me because the threads that go day by day for students I think have been very informative and helpful so hopefully I can help the ones who are interested in what they will get with the program as I was... well first day starts a 0800 so time for bed....

I'm at Daytona a and yes I started the 90 day Career Program...

So day one has come and gone it was a kinda relaxed day vs what I was thinking.. I came in this morning took care of all the paper work then my instructor had another student that needed a recheck on his instrument so he had to fly with him for an hour and a half in the morning, while he was gone he gave me a few things to look over and start to memorize the best I could.
Then lunch came I went out and got some food, and when I came back we started going over the supplement, after about an hour of that we got in the sim for 2 hours going over all the maneuvers, over and over again.. back in the sim tomorrow and then the plane and sim on Wed, Thurs, Fri. Checkride is set for Sat at 9am.. well time to study I'll be back again tomorrow....

What an awesome day got to the airport around 8, went out and did my preflight, then we were off. We went up over the north practice area and did slow flight, steep turns, Vmc demo, power on and power off stalls, emergency engine failure, then back to the airport. It was very exciting to actually fly the Twin. I now have 2.1 multi-engine time woo-hoo. I finished my booklet of quizzes already when you start the program they give you a binder of take home quizzes that you have to complete by the start of your XC but I figured I would get them down so that I could work on the flying... Tomorrow is another day of flying ill let you know how that goes as well.... happy flying

So today we did some take-offs and landings went pretty well tomorrow is the last day before the checkride flying 4 hours hopefully all goes well, for those of you who are going to be starting the program read and memorize as much as you can in the supplement it will be your best friend also all the emergency check list know them so good that you can recite them in your sleep that will help put you at more ease in the actual aircraft....

Ok so heres the deal today was my last day of flying before the checkride... the weather was real crappy here so we decided that we were gonna try the flight anyway we got up and couldn't get above the clouds so we just went down to OMN and did 2 take-off and landings and got some flying in the clouds in so it was exciting.... Tomorrow is the checkride and just like everyone has said to me at the school you won't feel ready and they were right.... but I'm gonna rely on my training and go for it so off to study and get ready mentally I'll be back tomorrow to let you know how it goes....

gtlyon thanks for reading if you have any questions send me a pm....

Ill tell you one thing today is a great day!! I passed now I'm a Private-Multi pilot!!! yes!!! When I started the program I was thinking I was gonna be very busy everyday but so far it has been a great program with some time for yourself you just have to make sure you stay on top of your systems and procedures and you enjoy it and still have some time to yourself....and I will say it is possible to get the program done in less then 90 days so far I am already 4 days ahead of the program I shouldn't have taken my checkride until wed so I'm doing my best to stay on top of being ahead my instrument check is already set for April 10 which is about 15 days ahead of schedule so I'm looking forward to trying to break ATP's record of 54 days....haha so we will see... well have to go get ready going to do Cross-X to Marathon Key!! I'll keep you guys updated....

Hey dude, thanks so much for paying it forward and potsing your experience. It REALLY helps. I have noticed that people start this and then get to busy, or bored of it, to keep the updates going at the end. NEVER let this get in the way of your training, but I am hopeful to see lots' of experience accounts towards the end too!

Sounds like you are doing really really well!

Did you feel confident with your takeoffs and landings in the nole by checkride time? How many did you have? I have a bit of uneasiness about this particular part myself. It took me so long to feel comfortable with landings in a 172 after learning on 152, I figure switching to the big old Seminole will take some time to really feel confident.

How many hours did you start the program with?

Again, thank you SO much for posting your experiences.

I already had done a lot of studying before I came to ATP and I had some training in the instrument area but a lot of it is taught really well by the instructors in such a way that you can understand whats going on so if your wondering how to get through it fast make sure you read the oral exam guide know it cover to cover and then read all the instrument flying hand book....
