I was planning on doing the 90 day program in Manassas, but I was just on ATP's website & it looks like Manassas has been replaced by Richmond (I'm assuming this is in VA). Can anybody out there fill me in on this switch? Thanks |

Wow, another "kill" for the ADIZ and paranoid people. Looking at their site, it looks true. I think they actually had Manassas listed as Washington DC but that is gone too. It can't be due to lack of business. Nearly every serious pilot I talked to in the DC area knew about ATP and planned on using one of their programs or already did. |

It wasn't because of the ADIZ.

On a side note...the ADIZ is not really a big deal if you know the rules. On another side note, the ADIZ is pointless, but it makes the powers at be *feel* better. | |

Hmmm....I wonder why they closed it down? I think its for the better. Manassass was my first instructing location, actually with Trevs, and the ADIZ was annoying. It was such a pain to travel in and out and in my opinion, wasted some flight time of the students. But I never had a problem staying within the programs time frames. If they don't get it in 7.8 hours, they ain't going to get it with another .2! |

I *heard* that they never registered as a business and owed a whole lot of back taxes so they sort of skipped town. It's sad... that's where I did my interview way back in 2003.

That doesn't make since, being that Richmond and Manassas are both in Virginia. Didn't there used to be an ATP location in Richmond back in the day? Fuel prices are somewhat steep in HEF, I wonder if that was it or some other reason like the office space or local apartments. Mike |

I've found the price of JetA to be the best in the area at HEF, actually. On topic, I see an ATP Seminole in HEF everyday. I don't think the school is there but the plane comes and goes and ties down on the ramp by NextFlight everyday. |

Seminoles don't burn Jet-A. 100LL is $4.55 per gallon at Nextflight. It's more expensive at Leesburg (oddly) and Dulles Int'l as to be expected, but everywhere else in the area is cheaper, with many places less than $4/gallon.
