| Newbie | Can someone that has done or is completing their training at either Sacramento or Stuart please give me some insight into these locations (i.e. instructors, housing conditions, flying Wx, quality of training/equiptment) Also, I'm a senior in college (Maine), so I would be looking to start this 90-day program around June/July. When is a good time to set-up this interview? Finally, is there a particular base that is good to visit/interview at first? Any information that's provided would be much appreicated. THANKS!! |

| Old Skool | U of M? Black Bears? ![]() You can interview at any location... so... for convenience you can hit the NJ location. If you are wanting to get a feel for the larger campuses then you can go to ATL, JAX, DFW, etc... Bob

| Newbie | Hey Bob! Actually go to Thomas College in Waterville. Anyway, so if i'm planning on starting in like mid summer or so, when would you suggest going for this interview? Also, is one location better then another for the actual training? Thanks! |

| Senior Member | I did the 90-Day ACPP in SAC in 2005! Great location and instructors! I would recommend that you interview a few months in advance, that way you get a slot you want and they will send you all the materials, which means you can start studying and getting some of those written exams out of the way. That's the way I did it. Let me know if you have any specific questions about SAC.

| Old Skool | UND_Flyer gave some pretty sound advice as far as a time frame goes. Regarding which location to train at... it's completely up to you. The housing is free so it really shouldn't matter. If you are tired of the east coast... then go to Riverside or Sacramento. If you like the sun then hit PHX or JAX... If you like wide open airspace and want experience flying DP's & STARS then hit the DFW location... If you want to be near the beach then hit Daytona or Stuart... If you want to be closer to home then go to DC. Etc... ![]() That's the beauty of it all... same planes... and same program at each location. You'll find that everyone has their opinions about which is best... and it's usually the location that they chose to go to. I'm no different... I'm partial to the DFW location. Regardless of what location you choose... you will probably see a good majority of the locations on your cross country flights anyway.Bob PS: Go Terriers! ![]() ![]()

| Newbie | UND: Thanks for the info! When I contacted ATP Jax, they didn't seem to know much about this location (SAC). I am going to out Oakland, CA this Friday for a week and thought I would stop by SAC. I was told that there is no actual base out there, only a couple planes, and three flight instructors. Is this a "hole in the wall" kind of place? How is the housing there? Is it worth going to check out while I'm there?Bob: Your from Maine right? While I do have a great deal of school pride, I'm ashamed (as most of us are) that the "Terrier" appears to be "aged" and "sickly looking" in most depictions (HAHA) . Yeah I do like Maine, but I'm ready for a change. My girlfriend is a Sophmore at Colby, so I have some time now to get all my tickets and begin work before she's done. I've been lucky to have no debt coming out of undergrad because of scholarships, and well my gf, let's just safe I got the pick of the litter I have family in FL, so I figure I'll go check those locations out this spring, and then maybe see SAC this coming week. As for Texas, my mother went to college at TCU and raves about the state. So, maybe I'll go check that out too if I can come up with some $$$. |
