I am still in high school, but I am looking into the future with my aviation career. I have read so many good things about ATP and the fixed price and I intend to eventually get there. I plan to start with the private pilots license program there and after that go and do the airline career pilot program. When I was looking around the site a saw that the private pilot program requires at least 2 years of college. I also saw on the site the Global Aviation Degree Program. I was thinking maybe i could attend Utah Valley State College and then when 2 years is up i could go to ATP and continue on my college degree by doing the Global Aviation Degree at Utah Valley State. Just any comments or feedback would be great about this. I am just trying to find best training availible where i can also recieve a college degree. Thanks!

you do not need 2 years of college to attend ATP... you don't even need a high school diploma. trust me..give them a call. |

If you are planning on getting a degree in anything I would recommend you find a good community college where you can take your core general education classes. You will probobly be able to get $50-$70 an hour compared to $150-$160/hour while at a major college. This will decrease your expenses. Also when you get to the majors it doesn't matter if your degree is aviation or anything else you get to check the box. The only reason to get a aviation degree is get the challenge credit for getting your PPL, CFI, MEI, and others. But know that you can't get any challenge credit if you are not done with all of your ratings before you take the first aviation related class. -Start saving as much money as possible right now. -Start your flight training now if possible. -Get a college degree (even if you don't go into aviation) preferably non aviation or minor in non aviation. -Find a job you can do while you are working towards and during your aviation career that can pay the bills for a while. -Make a plan how you are going to pay off your debt, how you are going to live on less, and what you will do if aviation doesn't work out. -Have fun! |
