Default Joining ATP

I got my loan approved - I'm officially a flight junkie now. My start date is going to be August 7th... 2 days after I graduate college... I guess I can't wait....

Hopefully once I'm done with things - I'll work at atp as a cfi and build hours that way

Thanks for all the opinions - whether good or bad - to give me a more rounded approach to taking this decision. I'll be working like a dog the first few years - but I'm determined to make it in this industry!

Oh and also I got me a sugar momma to take care of most of the bills - my soon to be fiancee just got through nursing school!!!!

Wish me luck!

Oh yeah, suger momma's are nice, but they are just as high maintenance! Its starts off nice, but after a few months they start complaining about you not being home alot and before you know it they are nagging you to make sure you get a pilot base close to home when you get to the regionals. Hopefully I can make it all work out, money sucks at the regionals.

Congrats on your decision to attend ATP, goodluck and have fun!

Best wishes. Blue skies.

Who knows....you just might wind up being my instructor later this year or sometime early next year.

I'll be at arlington.

Sugar momma wise - it won't be so bad because she's going to be working long 12 hour shifts and her shifts are flexible - in other words - her hours can coincide with my days working so that we can spend time on our days off together....

Either way she's always encouraged me to do what I want, and we've been through situations MUCH MUCH MUCH more difficult than this.

Can't wait to start - but I've gotta finish up my 17 hours of college classes and my thesis in the next month so first things first.

Arlington is an awesome location. I started the self paced Private on May 5th. I initally flew 6 days a week but had to bump to down to 4...work happens. By the time you start I *should* just be starting my multi. All the instructors are great. Word of advice...N21515 requires a crazy amount of right rudder...that plane an I have issues. My favorite is N82499. I will be entering the self paced career here soon. I just passed my solo today.

Always use a co-signer if you can. If the co-signer has at least your credit score of better your rate will go down and so will the origination fee.

Yeah like skyhigh said - always get a cosigner - it reduces your apr....

Ok so my stats are this...

I had a 615 credit rating - I'm 23 and am recovering out of debt after paying for all of my college out of pocket and credit cards... I'm almost done but I had missed a few payments along the way which killed my credit.

Anyhoo I applied by myself just for ####s n giggles and was denied - but offered a counter offer by sallie mae for 10,000.... no good.

I had my dad cosign for me... his credit was in the low 800's... he has a good mortgage, and an annual income of a typical middle class person...

I am SkyHawg. If I was SkyHigh I would tell you that if you get get a loan for aviation you will be miserable and live in poverty for the rest of your life.

I got approved my a $60k loan with a $4k origination fee at 8.64%. With a good co-signer that $60k loan would have a $2.5k origination fee and a 6.75% rate.

I am curious to see how I do. I plan on using my wife as a cosigner.
Last year, we ran our credit to buy a house. She was a 710 and I was 690. We just traded in an expensive vehicle and got a cheaper one. When they ran our credit, it had dropped to a 650 and 660. They said it must be because of the house. I am hoping this is enough to get the loan because my folks are not keen on cosigning.

As for the sugar momma, I have been with my wife who is a nurse with her masters for 5 years now...although she will work 12 hour shifts, she will only work 3 days a week....so be prepared for her to have ALOT of downtime to wonder why you are at the airport soooo much...my wife is extremely understanding but after 4 days home alone a week she will wonder why you HAVE to spend so much time there instead of doing stuff with her...it is a fine line you will need to balance but certainly manageable.

My only saving grace is that after already doing 7 in Iraq and now being on my second tour she will take me being at the airport over another continent anyday.

If you live in base and don't need the hours then bid reserve, especially if you have the seniority to not get called first. Your significant other will be complaining about how much she sees you.

UHHHHHHH ohhhhhh.....

Got my start date today! September 4th at 0800

I can't wait... I've already started going over some of the material... Going through 4 years as a Biology major is making this material pretty easy.... The rote learning process carries over to the info I was asked to study.... I just gotta make sure I stay focused
