Default 14 day cfi another question

Question, if you have no multi time at all, but your inst/comm se, can you do the 4 day multi-add on and then the cfi program...Ie, does the 4 day mutli-prog., give you the comm. multi add on? thanks..

I'd probably call ATP for that question 800-ALLATPS.

You need to have your Comm-Multi before you can start the CFI Program, so yes you can go get your Multi add-on at ATP, and yes it will give you your Comm-Multi

Prerequisites Prior to Start Date for CFI Program:

* Commercial License
o Single-Engine
o Multi-Engine
o Instrument
* Instrument Proficiency
* 1st or 2nd Class FAA Medical Certificate
* FAA CFI Written Exams Complete
o Fundamentals of Instructions (FOI)
o Flight Instructor (FIA)
o Flight Instructor Instrument (FII)
* Thorough Knowledge of:
o ATP Piper Seminole Training Supplement
o ATP Flight Instructor Packet
(Both provided to you before arriving for your training program.

FAR 61.183: To be eligible for a flight instructor certificate or rating a person must: (j) log at least 15 hours as PIC in the category and class of aircraft that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought.

That is where the requirement comes from regarding pre-CFI school Seminole time and why there is a 5 hour program for career pilot students and why there is a 15 hour program for others.

For my multi rating in the Career Pilot Program 7.7 was NOT PIC (obviously because it was before the checkride).

You need 15 PIC to take the MEI ride per the reg.
