| Junior Member | FAR 61.183: To be eligible for a flight instructor certificate or rating a person must: (j) log at least 15 hours as PIC in the category and class of aircraft that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought. That is where the requirement comes from regarding pre-CFI school Seminole time and why there is a 5 hour program for career pilot students and why there is a 15 hour program for others. For my multi rating in the Career Pilot Program 7.7 was NOT PIC (obviously because it was before the checkride). You need 15 PIC to take the MEI ride per the reg. |
