Default ATP and College Degree

For those who have went thorugh the ATP program, what percentage of your classmates would you say had a 4 year college degree prior to starting the program?

Thanks,

Hey man,

I asked the same question when I got there. From my perception it looks like a 60-40 relationship. Being that about 40% of us had our 4-year degrees. It may differ location to location though.

Hope that helps.

I would agree with those #ers. I don't think a degree does much for you in terms of getting hired at a regional.

I'd say about 50% have bachelor's degrees. As a huge advocate of higher education, it was disappointing to see so many people with degrees. However, those with higher aspirations will soon realize that not much can be done without a degree. Most of the folks that didn't have a degree had future plans of completing their education.

Thanks for the replies. I toured the Arlington location last fall and really liked the feel of the place. Just curious about the educational background of the students.

Thanks again.

And that is a realization many don't come to.. "Ahh, I can get on at a regional" is all the care about...

I think out of maybe 8 guys I "went through with" I think all but maybe 1 or 2 of us had their degree's..

Now our instructors.. man, you'd never know it to watch'em fly, eh Bob..

I'm inclined to agree with you. Hours and flight time experience can get you in the door, but like any other occupation/avocation, once you're in, they start raising the bar even higher as other positions and assignments become available. That "whole person" tabulation then becomes key. Believe me when I say that piece of paper means a lot. Even then, all things being equal, even the degree program becomes a consideration as well. . .all else being equal.

Sorry...I meant "dissappointed to see so many withOUT degrees." I've always said that I don't want to fly RJ's for the rest of my life. Hats off to those with degrees and those who are pursuing them!
