Default CFI School clarification

Could someone just clarify this for me. I see that you need 1.5pic multi to enroll in the cfi school which is accomplished during your multi-pic check. So if you have no multi at all, enroll in the 4 day multi program immediately before the cfi school, can you then go on to the cfi school with only the 8-10hrs gained during the multi rating program? Thanks.

Yes - Remember that the multi time required for the MEI is multi-PIC not total multi.

BTW, anyone go into the cfi program with no multi time, do the 10hr multi program , then go right into the cfi program? And if so, how bad was the learning curve for the multi stuff?

I had a student who came to PHX with .6 multi and his commercial single. He got his multi commercial with me with the 10 hour program and then went up to Vegas to do the total CFI. Worked out pretty well for him. I just went back and looked at my records. He passed the CMEL no problem, took the CFI in the twin at VGT and passed with the FISDO and then came back to PHX and busted his CFII (in the twin), rechecked and then passed his CFISE the first time around. All I wrote down was "bust--to/from confusion". It's been a while and I guess I've put the specifics out of my mind.

Moral of the story, if you gut it out and work hard going in with no multi time and doing the whole deal isn't too bad. That way the multi engine stuff is fresh to you.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.. Makes me feel a little easier about it.. Now, next one, think i would have time to get my multi/prepare for the class in ATL on the 24th? Or do you think there is too much pre-prep to get ready in that short of a time.. ie, 2 weeks.. Thanks agian!
