| Hello all, My mind is almost made up about ATP, but I need some assertion on the academy's training. I read many posts about ATP and they are convincing, but I would like to hear more from prior Ari Ben pilots who transfered to ATP. A little about me. I went to Ari Ben Aviator to obtain my ME PPL & ME COMM. I have SE Private Priveleges which will be COMM next week. I could have stayed to do the professional pilot course but I was scheduled to go to Army Flight School right after my ME COMM (there is no way I would have given up my chance to be a UH60 pilot). I have nothing negative to say about Ari Ben Aviator, but what I hear about ATP sounds really good, if not better. Don't get me wrong, Ari Ben Aviator is a real good flight school with very professional instructors and I had a great experience during my time as a flight student there. However, what I have read about ATP from the forums and heard from fellow military pilots leads me to believe that ATP has a very well structured program. Can anyone clarify this for me? I would really like to hear from former Ari Ben pilots experience at ATP. Luis. |

| I found that their training isnt comprehensive by any means, but they teach you to pass the checkrides. If you want your checkrides passed in a minimum amount of time for a reasonable amount of money, ATP is your school! |

| Old Skool | You find a flight school that... TEACHES you to become a flight instructor and I'll go running through the local mall in the buff.. There simply isn't a school that can TEACH you to be a flight instructor.. I don't know of one anyway - who will take sufficent time to take you up and have you fly with a "mock" student.. I started doing it some with my students.. I'd go up and do a bunch of stupid stuff - "Denny Dumb Student" flipping the wrong stuff, putting the gear down, just generally wigging out on them.. but I don't know of a school who offers "Ricky Retard 101"... Being an instructor is something that you learn, over time through practice.. Sorta like juggling.. You can't show up and say "Hey clown guy.. teach me to juggle" and you sit down and he shows you some nice lil' diagrams.. and you leave there a professionall juggler" it just won't happen.. It takes lots and lots of practice.. and that.. is how flight instruction is.. Flying with students is the ONLY way to become an instructor.. Your, mine, Chuck Yeager's, Captain Bob's, Duke Cunningham's, Adolf Galland's, Hermann Graf's, Tex Hill's, anyone's who has ever sat the right seat with a student - their first time with a student was a bit of hit-or-miss.. Anyone who denies this is a liar.. Sure, you may not have them ball it up - it may go fine.. but it's your first time... you will get better... I was almost angry when I had to be a flight instructor.. I did not want to do it at all.. Now.. I am soo glad I did.. I learned bou coup things.. Some people need spoons.. some people don't.. Neo showed me there was no spoon..

| OK, let's not get wrapped up around the word TEACH as used in the context that pkrgod used it. His message is understood clearly. Let's stay on course with the issue at hand which is trying to find out about the experience of former Ari Ben pilots who attended ATP. Thank for your interest in this post. Luis |

| Old Skool | Riggghht.. Why are you hung up on needing advice from someone who went from Ari Ben to ATP? Are Ari Benners superior to others? How about MTSUers who went to ATP? Orr maybe even Embry Riddlers who went to ATP? I've seen all of the above, however.. I did not ever seen an Ari Benner go to ATP.. Maybe you should just go to AriBen.. ![]() Here's some advice.. Always check the Jesus nut..

| Do you want to go to the Orlando FSDO for your CFI initial? If so, go to Ari Ben. |

I have not written in this forum, or implied for that matter, that Ari Ben pilots are superior to others. I am sure that MTSU, Embry Riddlers, and pilots from other academies, schools, or universities can give me some useful advice on ATP. However, I am a former Ari Ben student so, I requested advice from anyone who went to Ari Ben and then to ATP. They could give a fair assessment on both academies. I hold nothing against anyone from other aviation sources. By the way, UH-60s don't have a Jesus nut. Thanks for your imput. Luis | |
