Anyone on the forum know of the quality of training at LGB compared to other California locations? Is there enough business to do instructing there or is it advisable to seek elsewhere? I notice lots of ATP grads from Florida and Texas but practically zippo from California. This suprises me due to favorable weather conditions in Cali.

When aCFI is hired to instruct at ATP , he or she is evaluated prior to being assigned to instruct at one of ATP's training facilities. The training for instructors at ATP is "standardized". So in a sense, all ATP instructors are trained to a certain standard, and you will see pretty much the same quality instruction throughout the ATP system.

I'm flying out of Long Beach, but not ATP. To be honest I don't really hear or see any of their aircraft. Although now that I think about it they may be on the other side of the airport using a different tower freq.

I live under the final approach for 30 and I see the seminoles all the time. Same thing when I have gone to the airport to watch and read.

ATP is a very small operation at LGB. Maybe a handfull of students with many older guys taking lessons maybe once a week.
