1-For all ATPer's (especially in Florida) which location would u choose? FLL, SUA or JAX? 2-If you complete the entire program (PPL, ACPP and DT) and are in good standing will ATP help the student put together there resume? 3-If you had to do it all over again would you choose ATP? I am a divorced 40 y/o white collared professional living in FL. I am in excellent shape and well educated so I am able to withstand the rigors of training. Someday soon I am going to take the plunge and pursue the goal of becoming a professional pilot. The decision is which is a better choice for a person like myself? ATP or FSA. The individualist that I am I am leaning towards ATP. I will continue posting more questions as they arise. Thanks |

1) Stuart. I did my training there. It's a really nice location. 2) There really isn't much of a resume to put together when you are done with the program. Just add a flight time grid to your regular resume. 3) Yep! |

I think ATP would be a great fit for you. If you have the patience for flight instructing....do the Airline Career Pilot program. If you don't really want to instruct....try the Direct Track program. Both will get you the experience and tickets you need to get into a regional airline. Thats if you want to go that route of course. I think both Stuart and FLL are great choices. Jacksonville is a bit crazy for my taste. As far as your resume is concerned, you usually can find several instructors that will gladly share their resume with you. Lastly, I would do it all over again with ATP. I only wish I had found out about them sooner. Good luck.

First of all, dont listen to a word adrock says. He doesnt have a clue. HAHA. J/K. Adrock is a great guy. 1. I would recommend SUA as well. And that part of Florida is really nice from what I have seen. JAX gets a bit hectic(sp?). If FLL is a career pilot location (90 day program) that would probably be a great place too. but thats a busy airport and you might spend too much time sitting in the run-up area. I would highly recommend the 90 program over the self paced. 2. been discussed above 3. If for some crazy reason I wanted to do it all over again, I would definitely choose ATP again. good luck. |

Thanks for the replies...it is greatly appreciated...I believe that once I take care of some loose ends...and get my finances in order once I sell the house I can definitely start the program. I have seen the ATP PA-44's arriving and departing out of FLL's RWY 9R...proabably FLL would be my 1st choice. But then I realize that to do the direct track I would have to be at JAX so it would probably be best just to do the entire training there and complete it in one shot. Considering my age I am leaning towards direct track. I will now start off the day reading a quote I have hanging in my office next to a color photo of the E-145 flightdeck. It is a quote written by the late, great Len Morgan (Ret, Braniff Capt.) "The way I see it, you can either work for a living or you can fly airplanes. Me I'd rather fly". |

I find that the traffic at FLL really isnt a problem since the Jet Center is a short taxi away from 9R where the GA aircraft mostly depart from. Ive had waaaay more delays at FXE or PMP then at FLL.

Yeh, I did the 90 day deal.. I would do it over quickly.. I'm with Adrock - wish I had done it 3 years ago.. However, I did it right of out college, so I guess that works too. |

Hey Tram, if you don't mind me asking, where are you at now? Your job,etc... I'm doing ATP's ACPP when I'm done at FSU in 6 weeks, and I have my instrument rating already, so I get to use that time towards more multi...so hopefully that works out. I expect to leave the program with about 750tt and 215+ multi. and, I was just curious as to your experience(s), and flight experience before ATP. And I guess a perspective on what it was like for someone just getting out of college and starting flight training in place of school..Especially where everything (most of it ) you're learning, you want to learn and enjoy. Thanks |

FLyingNole- I am actually at ATP right now.. I did the 90 day a year ago.. Got out because I was "promised" a King Air job.. Yadda yadda yadda didn't work out.. Stayed around at home and instructed for a bit, did some aircraft ferrying, flew a lil' Mu2 flying, did a small bit of corporate flying for a local company - all of which - didn't work out.. Basically - none of them (mu2, corporate) was full time - it was only a "hey, let's call that kid and see if he wants to go" type flying.. So I needed the multi time.. I applied at ATP and got offered a position so now I am instructing at ATL.. Jeff |
