Anyone know if you get a discount on the course price if you already went through the Career Pilot Program?

Yeah i'm gonna work the price of the regional jet program in with my loan and keep the money aside to take the class when i'm ready to interview. The only thing i noticed.....the price of the regional jet course has gone up from 2,995 to 4,995 in the most recent literature i got from ATP. When the program cost was 2,995 it lists the price as 2000 for an ACPP grad. Since the price went up, i would assume that the price for a grad would also go up. Anybody know for sure ?

And more importantly, why would you spend the money on such a thing? Just more stuff to unlearn when you get hired someplace.

I think the main reason is not really to become proficient at anything......but instead to get a feel for one of them simulators. I heard they are REALLY hard to handle if your not used to them. A few hours in one i guess wouldnt hurt before you go for an airline interview...even for that price....just to get the feel of it.

The Regional Jet Standards Certification program is not designed to help you get a job. It is there to help you be successful in the ground school after you have the position and the job is on the line! Why not go through the headache of learning how to fly a jet aircraft with a glass cockpit when the job isn't on the line? Remember, if you fail out of a 121 ground school, it will follow you everywhere you go! Have fun getting a job then.

Junior, Its funny that you are allowed to use a semi-naked picture of Nicole Whitehead for your avatar and I couldn't even talk about when she was getting her training with us at ATP without getting my hand slapped by Doug Taylor...jetcareers founder in chief! Interesting how things change. Call me bro. Late. |

People are, and have for some time, been quite successful in getting though new hire training without some RJ transition course. I think it's a huge waste of money. However, with the right kind of marketing, you won't have any problem finding guys who will take this course. Did ATP design this course because their grads are having a hard time in initial? |

[ QUOTE ] People are, and have for some time, been quite successful in getting though new hire training without some RJ transition course. I think it's a huge waste of money. However, with the right kind of marketing, you won't have any problem finding guys who will take this course. [/ QUOTE ] With the right kind of marketing... a successful business owner can create a product that he/she feels will fill a need in the marketplace. A few Definitions of Marketing... [ QUOTE ] American Marketing Association Definition The process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of ideas, goods, and services to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives. American Heritage Dictionary's Definition of Marketing The commercial functions involved in transferring goods from producer to consumer. Merriam Webster's Marketing Definition b: the process or technique of promoting, selling, and distributing a product or service 2: an aggregate of functions involved in moving goods from producer to consumer Marketing Definition From MSN Encarta Dictionary The business activity of presenting products or services to potential customers in such a way as to make them eager to buy. Marketing includes such matters as the pricing and packaging of the product and the creation of demand by advertising and sales campaigns. [/ QUOTE ] Marketing is... and always has been a fundamental staple of our democratic marketplace. While your statement was designed as a bit of a slap... I do agree with it. With the right kind of Marketing, you, me, eBay Moms, etc... can be successful in businesses of our own. I don't fault the owners of ATP in their marketing practices unless they lead to false advertising. They make one bold statement in regards to marketing this program... "The proficiency attained in this program will increase confidence and reduce anxiety in the airline interview and initial training." I did not take this course... but I don't see that their marketing is way out there. [ QUOTE ] Did ATP design this course because their grads are having a hard time in initial? [/ QUOTE ] ZING!!!! ![]() I gotta give you kudos for that one... That reminds me of the kids who make the jokes about each others Mom... and finally one gives a really good zinger and the other kid gets upset about what you just said about his Mom... even though you both have been going back and forth about each others Mom for the past 10 minutes! ![]() I doubt their students are having a hard time, just the opposite in my opinion. In fact, the word I heard on the inside of XJT is that they actually like ATP grads due to the training program mimicing a 121 style ground school. (No spoonfeeding, rapid fire environment, intense course work, self study, SIM, PF/PNF responsibilities, etc...) So... the program is... good for those who think it would make them feel more comfortable in an interview. If you are interviewing for SkyWest, CHQ, ASA, for example, alongside another candidate who has the same hours and experience as you... and you get the question "What have you done to prepare for transitioning from an AC that's top speed is our approach speed?" And part of your response indicates that you took it upon yourself to learn the systems, call-outs, QRH, memory items, and flight profiles in the jet they use... I think you may be in the position of "marketing" yourself to your future potential employer a bit better than the other candidate. ...as always... my humble opinion. Bob |
