Bases With the Newer Seminoles

Hey everyone- I'm new to this forum so please excuse me if this is a stupid question. I did perform a search to find this answer to save everyone's time but I couldn't find anything. So here it is.... I'm curious what ATP bases operate with the new Seminoles as opposed to the '79's. In early March I plan on enrolling in the multi engine add on for my commercial and I'd rather fly at one of the bases that has the newer seminoles. I was hoping for either Las Vegas or Ft.Lauderdale. I don't mean to seem ignorant it's just that if I'm going to spend the same amount of money I rather fly a more modern aircraft (even though they are prob the same). You are right they are the same... the only differences are that the 2000 have dual garmin GPS vs. a single in the '79. In all actuallity I have flown probably over half of the fleet and I can say that "I would prefer to fly many of the '79s vs. the '00." They tend to be a little more spacious and feel a little more, for lack of a better word, stable to me.

That being said, you can't expect one or the other to be a given location. The fleet is constantly being moved around and dispatch tends to put them where they are needed. I am in ORL and have a 2000 but had had a 1979 in the past. It is all a matter of availability. You can expect '79s in Jax.

At Ft. Lauderdale we have 2 Seminoles, both are 1979 models. We are not a career pilot location, and those spots usually have the new models.

Thanks to both of you guys for the quick responses. I guess it all boils down to the fact that they're are basically the same so who cares. I'm from upstate New York and the nearest training location is in Trenton, NJ. Since this winter has been a real brutal one I want to go someplace where its warm and the airspace is very complex/busy. I want to get the most out of this... any suggestions??? THANKS AGAIN

Dallas and Phoenix have primarily new Seminoles. So those are good southern/warm locations if that's what you're looking for.

DFW has a bit more complex airspace, and the location is right under the Bravo. You'll always fly a Departure and an Arrival in and out of there on an IFR flight plan. So there's another good thing for Dallas.

I instructed at both locations... I enjoyed PHX in the winter time but DFW was much more tolerable in the summer.

Even though these two locations primarily have the newer seminoles... it's very conceivable that you will fly an older one at any time during training or checkrides, since (as stated earlier) they rotate the aircraft around. In addition... DFW is also a MX facility.

So which base do you recommend CaptainBob?

Atlanta has a mix of '79/'80 and '00/'01 models. And it has a MX facility. And it's by that Hartsfield place.

Eh... we DID have all 2000s in PHX. Now Vegas has two of them. Grrr. But on the plus side we have their Cessna.
