Default Mesa Announces Update on CRJs for UAL

Mesa Air Group, Inc. Announces Update on CRJ-200s Operating at United Airlines
November 06, 2009: 07:13 PM ET

PHOENIX, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MESA AIR GROUP, INC. (Nasdaq: MESA) today announced that the timeframe for United Airlines to exercise its renewal rights with respect to extending Mesa’s operation of 26 CRJ-200 aircraft under its code-share agreement with United Airlines has expired. Mesa plans to work with United Airlines on an orderly transition plan, but, in any event, the date of exit from service is expected to be no later than April 30, 2010.

See the Company’s disclosure in its Form 10-Q for the quarterly period ended June 30, 2009, which was filed on August 10, 2009, for a complete discussion of the Company’s agreement with United and its contribution to the Company’s revenue.

This press release contains various forward-looking statements that are based on management’s beliefs, as well as assumptions made by and information currently available to management. Although the Company believes that the expectations reflected in such forward-looking statements are reasonable; it can give no assurance that such expectations will prove to have been correct. Such statements are subject to certain risks, uncertainties and assumptions. Should one or more of these risks or uncertainties materialize, or should underlying assumptions prove incorrect, actual results may vary materially from those anticipated, estimated, projected or expected.

Mesa currently operates 136 aircraft with approximately 800 daily system departures to 126 cities, 40 states, Canada, and Mexico. Mesa operates as Delta Connection, US Airways Express and United Express under contractual agreements with Delta Air Lines, US Airways and United Airlines, respectively, and independently as Mesa Airlines and go!. In June 2006 Mesa launched inter-island Hawaiian service as go!. This operation links Honolulu to the neighbor island airports of Hilo, Kahului, Kona and Lihue. The Company, founded by Larry and Janie Risley in New Mexico in 1982, has approximately 3,700 employees.

That ship is sinking faster than the Titanic right now. Sorry for all the pilots who are soon to be on the street or downgraded.

The TSA recalls begin coming back in December and the Mesa flying isn't gone until the end of April, right? I'm not so sure this is to replace the Mesa guys but who knows.

Nothing is certain yet. There's nothing out there that makes this an official deal as far as our recalls. Some are saying we should be hearing word from the company next week. And plus if they're recalling all of us it would mean 10 to 15 extra ERJs which TSA doesn't have. Where will they be getting these ERJs.. We'll see what happens.

That's the 26 we're all talking about.

They just were slow putting out a PR about it.

Was Mesa flying 13 planes for United, CRJ-200's out of IAD and ORD though?

All of us here at ASA have been told that this is seperate flying from the RFP that United has out - for the 26 CRJ-200's Mesa will no longer operate. And that is coming from the likes of our President, and Director of Operations. The flying starts in February, prior to Mesa's expiration. . .so. . .

Plus, isn't GoJet's the United regional lift under the Holding company?

Although since flying with American has shifted around, doesn't that now open the door for -700s at TSA?

Yep, I guess that would allow 70 seaters on the TSA certificate.

Yeah, which is why the MRJ announcement is interesting. TSA or GJ could get them...or nobody.

Do you believe that they would actually have Gojet fly CRJ7s AND MRJs? Why not just more 700s? I strongly believe that by 2014 when the MRjs arrive we'll be under one company, otherwise Hulas would own two competing 70+ seat certificates. They could have just said all MRJs would go to Gojet.

HA! Entitled to flying?

You are either a troll, or incredibly naive about the regional industry.

Wow! The only ones entitled to that flying are the UA pilots, especially the ones out on the street!

Entitled? You have like 756 CRJ200s flying for UA. Do you need 10 more?
